Last week, Primary School held a highly successful Sports Day, with classes from all five grade levels taking part over two fantastic days. The atmosphere throughout was electric, with students fully engaged and eager to participate in every activity prepared by our amazing primary PE teacher team. It was a true celebration of physical education and the effort that goes into developing confident, active learners.

上周,为期两天的小学部运动日圆满落幕。在室内外运动场热烈的竞技气氛中,一至五年级学生积极参与了体育老师精心设计的各项比赛。此次活动不仅为同学们提供了展现运动风采的舞台,更进一步点燃了大家对体育活动的兴趣与热爱,丰富我校体育文化生活的同时,也为校园注入更多活力。

Across all events ranging from Sprint and Bench ball to Dodgeball and obstacle run, there were brilliant showcases of teamwork, sportsmanship, and resilience. Students demonstrated a wide variety of high-level skills, from coordination and agility to communication and strategy. It was particularly pleasing to see how well students supported one another, embracing both success and challenge with positive attitudes.

从短跑、长凳球、到躲避球和障碍跑,各类项目活力纷呈,精彩无限。同学们全情投入每一项比赛,不仅展现了出色的协调性、敏捷度与策略运用能力,更充分运用了体育课中所学的沟通协作与应变技巧。尤为可贵的是,同学们始终保持高度的团队凝聚力,以积极自信的心态直面每一项挑战。

Most importantly, the children had an incredible amount of fun, finishing each day with hot, sweaty faces and big smiles. Their enthusiasm and energy were a joy to see, and they should be extremely proud of their efforts. Congratulations to all the children and teachers for making this year’s Primary Sports Day such a memorable and successful event.

最重要的是,大家在运动中收获了纯粹的快乐。每场赛事结束后,他们红扑扑的小脸上挂满汗珠,笑容却格外灿烂。那份蓬勃的朝气与活力如此动人,也值得他们为自己骄傲。衷心感谢所有同学与老师的全情参与和付出,共同铸就了这场精彩、难忘而圆满的小学运动会。

Let Passion Play

Last Friday, the HS Student Council hosted the classic “Barry on the Court” basketball game as part of its ongoing AP stress-relief activities, offering students a chance to unwind and recharge from studying. The gym was open for a mix of casual play and friendly competition. Students were free to organize squads to take on a team of teachers, or simply watch and enjoy the lively atmosphere. Several games came down to the wire, but the teachers ultimately prevailed. The students and teachers had a good time and connected as a closer community.

上周五,高中学生会成功举办了经典的“Barry上球场”活动。作为本学期AP减压系列活动的暖心延续,它让大家通过运动释放压力、舒展身心。活动中,同学们既可以自由在球场上挥洒汗水,也能集结队伍与教师联队展开切磋较量,或是在场边驻足喝彩,感受热烈的比赛氛围。多场对决直至终场哨响方才决出胜负,最终教师队伍略胜一筹。师生们在酣畅淋漓的比拼中共享愉快时光,不仅增进了对彼此的了解与欣赏,也让校园氛围愈发温馨融洽。

学生反馈

This was my first time playing with the teachers' team. The whole event was so exciting, and I heard so many students talking about it and buzzing with excitement throughout the day to play against the teachers. During the game, we played music and hyped up the students. Though the game was for fun and enjoyment, there was also a spark of competitiveness in some students and most of the teachers. We saw Mr. Carpentier fighting for rebounds, Ms. Guo and Ms. Annie running for fast break, and Mr. Nate draining threes. It was the first time I had seen so many students from different grade levels playing basketball in the gym and cheering each other on as one team. I enjoyed it so much, and I wish we could have more of these events to enjoy time with each other and with the teachers in ways that we are all passionate about, outside of the classroom.

这是我**次和老师们同场竞技。整场活动氛围**,许多同学都在兴奋讨论,满怀期待地想和老师们“切磋一番”。比赛时,现场播放的音乐更是点燃了所有人的热情。尽管活动主打趣味与放松,但场上的师生依旧充满竞技精神。Mr. Carpentier在拼抢篮板,Ms. Guo和Ms. Annie在快攻中全速奔袭,Mr. Nate则在外线稳稳命中三分。我非常珍惜这样的时刻,也期待未来能有更多类似活动,让我们在课堂之外,借由共同热爱的运动,与老师和同学创造一起难忘的美好时光。

Meet Childhood

From April 7th to 10th, BISZ ECE celebrated Book Week, inspiring a love of reading across our community. Students took part in both class and individual reading challenges, building excitement around books and storytelling.

4月7日-10日,我校幼儿部精彩的 “读书周”活动点燃了大家的阅读热情,同学们踊跃参与班级与个人的阅读挑战,共同营造出阅读与故事分享的浓厚氛围。

We were delighted to welcome guest readers, including Head of School Dr. Adams and Vice Head of School Mr. Mark Hartley, who brought stories to life with creativity and fun. The week concluded with a special parent event. Kindergarten students created dioramas to retell their favorite stories, while Pre-K families enjoyed a “Book Walk” through themed classrooms and activities.

幼儿部老师邀请了校长Dr. Adams、副校长Mr. Mark Hartley等多位嘉宾担任客座朗读者,他们以充满创意和趣味的方式,将一个个故事娓娓道来。本届“读书周”在一场温馨的家长活动中圆满收官。K年级学生制作了立体场景模型,在家长面前重现自己**的故事;两个PreK年级的家长则在精心布置的教室中,与师生温馨互动,共同踏上了一场别开生面的“图书漫步”之旅。

From Communication to Commitment: A Glimpse into G9 SML

九年级学业管理与领导力课程

The G9 Scholastic Management and Leadership course is designed for students who want to build academic success, strengthen their language skills, and prepare for future leadership roles. Throughout the course, students develop their reading, writing, listening, and speaking abilities, with a special focus on expanding vocabulary and applying complex grammar for clear, effective communication. Each quarter, students complete a major speaking project. In Quarter 3, they interviewed school leaders about their leadership values. Drawing on those interviews and their study of leadership through Harvard’s Good Work Project, students wrote and presented an essay on their personal ethics—with school leaders in the audience. We were deeply inspired by the students’ thoughtful reflections on their own values and their growing understanding of what it truly means to lead.

九年级学业管理与领导力(SML)课程致力于帮助学生在学业上取得卓越成就,扎实提升语言能力,并为未来承担领导角色做好准备。课堂上,同学们系统锻炼阅读、写作、听力与口语能力,尤其注重词汇的积累与复杂语法结构的实际运用,以实现更清晰有力的表达。每学季,学生均需完成一项主要的口语表达项目。以第三学季为例,大家采访了教学管理岗位的老师,深入了解他们的工作理念。结合采访内容和哈佛大学“好工作项目”学习成果,每位同学都撰写了一篇关于个人价值观的议论文,并在老师面前进行展示。学习过程中,同学们对“领导角色”背后的伦理价值进行了深入探讨与反思,展示了对领导力内涵的真切理解与日益成长的思辨能力。

Respect, as part of my values, helps me respond to questions I don’t understand when leading the group project in the Honors Biology class... Interviewing with our school’s leaders, learning from others’ experiences, attending courses, and actively seeking others’ perspectives, I believe respect is the most important aspect of acting in the leadership role. Respect also reflects my responsibilities circle, with putting myself in the middle, as I must respect myself, to help me support communication among people.

Reading Celebrates Spring, Poetry Fills the Garden

童声诵春,诗韵满园

A gentle spring breeze carried the fragrance of flowers through the garden. In this vibrant season, our G1 students, guided by their Chinese SETs, took part in a special recitation event held in the school’s sixth-floor garden.  With the theme “Spring Warmth and Poetic Fragrance, Children’s Voices in Bloom,” the event aimed to spark students’ enthusiasm for reading, help them experience the rhythmic beauty of Chinese poetry, and deepen their interest in learning.

春风轻拂,花香满园。在这个生机盎然的季节,一年级学生在中文老师的组织下,于学校空中花园开展了一场别具特色的朗诵展示活动。本次活动以“春暖诗香,童声朗朗”为主题,旨在点燃学生们对朗读的热情,体会中文诗歌的韵律之美,进一步增进他们对中文学习的兴趣。

The children’s voices were clear and confident, their expressions heartfelt, and their movements creative and engaging, all full of charm and leaving a lasting impression on the judges. This event not only provided a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their talents, but also allowed them to appreciate the unique beauty of the Chinese language. May these young voices continue to share the beauty of Chinese and create many more inspiring moments ahead!

学生们的朗读声响亮自信,情感真挚,动作创意新颖,充满童趣,给在场的评委老师们留下了深刻印象。这场朗诵活动不仅为同学们搭建了展示自我的舞台,也让他们在朗读中领略到中文的独特魅力。愿这些小小朗诵者在今后的日子里,继续用声音传递中文之美,谱写属于自己的精彩篇章!

Understanding Changes, Embracing Yourself

认识变化,拥抱自己

To help students better understand the physical and emotional changes of adolescence and learn how to navigate this important stage, our school counselor, Ms. Amanda, delivered a special session titled “Hello, Adolescence!” for G4 and G5 students in early April.

为帮助学生以科学态度认识青春期的身心变化,并更好地应对随之而来的挑战,四月初,心理老师Ms. Amanda为四、五年级学生带来了《你好!青春期》专题课程。

The program was thoughtfully tailored to different age groups. For G4 students, the focus was on “Recognizing Change and Building a Sense of Security,” helping them understand mood changes, develop a positive perspective on physical development, and learn how to care for their bodies through healthy habits such as balanced nutrition, sleep, and exercise. For Grade 5 students, the session explored topics such as emotional regulation, the emergence of early romantic feelings, and social boundaries. Students were guided to respect others, protect themselves, and feel confident seeking help when needed.

本次青春期主题课程根据学生年龄阶段设置了不同侧重点。面向四年级的课程以“认识变化、建立安全感”为主线,引导学生理解青春期情绪波动的原因,学会积极看待身体的变化,让大家学会通过科学饮食、充足睡眠和适度运动来照顾好自己。五年级的课程则进一步深入到情绪管理、情感萌芽与社交边界等话题,引导学生在真实社交情境中学会尊重他人、保护自己,并在需要时勇敢寻求帮助。

We hope this program not only supports students in approaching physical changes with confidence and understanding but also encourages them to treat themselves with kindness, respect others, and have the courage to seek help when needed.

相信这趟“青春期成长之旅”,能陪伴同学们以更从容的心态面对身心的变化,并在他们心中种下“善待自己、尊重他人、勇于求助”的种子。
